Reserved seats in ordinary cars of the following express trains with through operations between JR EAST and Tobu Railway lines: Nikko, Kinugawa, and SPACIA Kinugawa trains.
You can also use regular trains (including rapid trains) from Shimo-imaichi to Tobu-nikko and Kinugawa-onsen on the Tobu Railway line.
Between Kurihashi and Shimo-imaichi, you can only use limited express trains that run through to Tobu Railway. **

BRT refers to a Bus Rapid Transit system.
The only limited express trains you can use with the JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area) are through trains from JR lines to Tobu Railway lines. You cannot use limited express trains whose first and last stations are Tobu Railway stations.

Please note

The JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area) cannot be used on the Tokaido Shinkansen. (This is because the Tokaido Shinkansen is run by another company)
Gala Yuzawa Station only operates during the winter and spring.

How much can I save?

E.g. Trip from Narita Airport to Sendai and Akita via Tokyo Station

The total fare for an adult using the Narita Express (Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station to Tokyo Station), the Tohoku Shinkansen (Tokyo Station to Sendai Station), the Akita Shinkansen (Sendai Station to Akita Station/Akita Station to Tokyo Station), and the Narita Express again (Tokyo Station to Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station) with reserved seats is about ¥41,000.

Using the JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area)
lets you use this transport for ¥30,000! You are also free to hop on and off the train in the Tokyo/Sendai/Akita area.

Purchase

Please note

The age of a child is defined as the age on the date of purchase. A passport or other such document is required to prove a child’s age.
Children under 6 years old who do not require seat reservations do not need a pass.
A separate fee is applicable if you wish to use the Green Car or GranClass.
Youth fares (including student discount) are not offered for this pass.
While visiting Japan, you can only use one JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area) at a time. (You cannot purchase two of the same type of pass if their validity periods overlap)
