GALA Yuzawa
GALA Yuzawa is a ski and snowboard resort in Niigata, located just 71 minutes from Tokyo on the Jōetsu Shinkansen. The station is located at the foot of the mountains, so you can step out of the ticket gate right into the resort. The resort is known for its high-quality snow, with ski, snowboard, and sled rentals available to enjoy the slopes without bringing your own gear. An exciting and hassle-free day trip is a great way to spend one of your days in Japan. Summer season activities revolve mostly around fun weekend and holiday summer ski events and hiking.

Ski and Snowboard (Winter season only)
GALA Yuzawa Snow Resort is located in Yuzawa-machi, Niigata. Even though this resort is only a 71-minute Shinkansen ride away from Tokyo, it has the best snow in the area. From the top of the mountain, which is 800 meters above sea level, you can look out over Niigata’s vast ocean of Uonuma Koshihikari rice fields. Courses are available for all levels of skiers, from beginners to the more advanced. You can check on the status of the courses and lifts in real time online, making for a smooth visit to GALA Yuzawa for both beginner and pro skiers and snowboarders alike.

Snow Recreation (Winter season only)
GALA Yuzawa Ski Resort welcomes all visitors, from advanced skiers and snowboarders to those wanting to casually have fun in the snow. Feel free to use the rental sets, which include ski/snowboarding gear, sleds, boots, and more. Classes conducted in English and Chinese are available for those who want to learn how to ski or snowboard. Guests of all ages and skill levels will find something to enjoy among the many activities held throughout the open season.

Recreation Spa (SPA GALA no Yu)
After enjoying a day on the slopes, take a relaxing dip in the Gala no Yu spa’s swimming pool, flow pool, jacuzzis, and children’s pool. Swimsuit rentals are available, and spa admission is free for toddlers and preschoolers. Recharge at the Gala no Yu spa.

GALA Summer Park (Summer season only)
At the GALA Summer Park, a 350 meter artificial ski-slope using the Snow Mat (PIS・LAB) allows you to ski and snowboard even during the summer season when no snow falls. Even if you don't ski or snowboard, you can enjoy a variety of activities, from exploring the 800 meter-high highlands via the GALA Yuzawa Trekking Course, to pools and hot springs.
