This is a travel guide that allows you to witness Akita's traditional culture firsthand, including the Japanese garden and Western-style mansion of the Ikeda family, known as one of the three largest landowners in Tohoku, and the Masuda storehouses, which are still inhabited by their owners or operating as shops today.

Daisen City

This Japanese garden, designated a national scenic spot, was built by the Ikeda family, who were considered the three greatest landowners in Tohoku. Within the garden, you can see both a large 4-meter-tall snow-viewing lantern and a white Western-style building, also designated as an important cultural property. The garden, with its vibrant seasonal colors of trees and flowers, is a must-see.

Daisen City

This facility symbolizes Daisen City, a town where fireworks are launched every month. In addition to exhibits that tell the story of fireworks, both past and present, there is also a "Fireworks Creation Workshop" where you can freely create fireworks using fireworks shell models and launch them onto a screen. Enjoy launching your own original fireworks.

We offer tourist information and sell local products. You can also visit the adjacent former Kyokado Ishida Clinic's tatami room storehouse (a registered tangible cultural property). We have a free parking lot that can accommodate large buses, making it an ideal starting and ending point for tours of Masuda's storehouses.

This is Japan's first museum dedicated to original manga artwork. It houses and displays original manga drawings by over 180 leading manga artists from Japan and abroad, including artists from Akita Prefecture. Visitors can admire the original hand-drawn manga artwork and even observe the preservation process. The museum also features a manga cafe and a manga library.

The 4th-floor observation deck offers panoramic views of Yokote city, making it the best viewpoint in Yokote. The 1st to 3rd floors display artworks and other items related to Yokote.

This local specialty now boasts nationwide recognition. It features chewy, smooth boiled noodles, grilled in a unique broth-based sauce developed by each restaurant. The standard toppings are a soft-boiled fried egg and pickled vegetables. The Yokote style involves mixing the egg yolk with the noodles.

The Koyasu Gorge is a V-shaped valley formed by the erosion of the Minase River. Hot spring inns line the gorge. Descending about 60 meters down a staircase along the rocks, you will come across the "Great Geyser," the most famous spot in Koyasu Gorge, where 98°C hot water and steam erupt violently.

Even within Akita Prefecture, known for its delicious sake, Yuzawa City was once a thriving center for sake brewing, so much so that it was called the "Nada of Tohoku." Even today, it continues to produce world-renowned sake while upholding the traditions of long-established breweries. You can tour three sake breweries: Ryozeki Sake Brewery, Akita Meijo, and Kimura Sake Brewery.

This is a tourist hub for the Nishimonai Bon Odori, one of Japan's three major Bon dances, which has been designated a World Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is used for actual practice sessions, and also hosts regular performances (for a fee).
