This art museum is housed in a renovated brick building constructed during the Meiji and Taisho periods, which is said to be the first place in Japan to produce cider on a large scale using apples as the main ingredient. Inside, the museum introduces cutting-edge art from Japan and abroad, and also collects and exhibits works rooted in the history and culture of the Tohoku region, not just Hirosaki.

The area known as Samurai Residence Street is designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings and is protected as a cultural property. Many of the samurai residences can be visited, and some are still in use as residences today. There are also kimono rental shops nearby, so it is recommended to change into an antique kimono and take a stroll around the area.

This 10km-long gorge stretches from Lake Tazawa through the middle reaches of the Tamagawa River, which flows through Kakunodate. It was once such a narrow and steep mountain path that people had to embrace each other to pass, hence its name, "Dakikaeri" (meaning "to embrace and turn back").

This hotel is housed in a renovated historic storehouse. The three rooms, each exceeding 100 square meters in size, are limited to one group per day and are part of the Nishinomiya family's "Samurai Storehouse," "School Storehouse," and "Fabric Storehouse." Guests can enjoy the feeling of stepping back in time to the lifestyle of the past in these storehouses, each preserved with a history related to its original use.

This is a large-scale ritual site from the early part of the late Jomon period. It was discovered in 1992 and designated a national historic site in 2001. The Jomon Museum, located next to the site, displays approximately 300 artifacts, including clay figurines and pottery, excavated from the Ise-dodai site and other Jomon sites in the city.

Lake Tazawa, boasting the deepest waters in Japan at 423.4 meters, is home to the iconic "Tatsuko" statue, which stands atop its azure waters.

There are two breweries around Lake Tazawa. "Tazawako Beer," brewed with pure groundwater that nourishes Japan's largest beech tree and carefully selected malt, is a popular product characterized by its gentle flavor. "Kohan no Mori Beer," with its refreshing taste and clean finish, is a special Akita Komachi rice beer that is also popular with women.
