Yamanote Line Platform Doors: Stations Scheduled to Complete Installation by FY2013
East Japan Railway Company
July 5, 2011
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) has been pursuing an initiative to introduce platform doors to the Yamanote Line to prevent passenger falls and contact with moving trains on platforms. Based on our verification at the two stations where doors were first installed (Ebisu and Meguro stations), we will start full-scale installation this fiscal year. This is to announce stations where installation is scheduled to be complete by FY2013.

Overall installation is estimated to be complete by the end of FY2017, except for four stations that are planned at this time to undergo large-scale improvements (Shimbashi, Shibuya, Shinjuku and Tokyo stations). However, JR East will continue to study ways to complete installation as early as possible. |
