As a result of advances in voice recognition and AI technology, guidance robots are currently being used in a variety of locations. As part of this trend, JR East is also promoting initiatives that advance the use of guidance robots, in order to provide service that targets the diversifying needs of customers, such as providing multilingual support to the increasing number of customers from overseas.

In concrete terms, in order to centrally manage the wide range of robots used within station premises, we are considering the creation of a common database for guidance robots to provide consistent, accurate information to customers and to provide effective learning through analysis of conversation logs. Furthermore, we are aiming to provide customers with the information that they need the most through linking to essential station guidance information such as train status and congestion information and directions to stores within the station.
