Monitoring of Infrastructure and Train Instruments 

In order to increase the efficiency and productivity of maintenance, JR East is changing the maintenance system from TBM (Time Based maintenance) to CBM (Condition based Maintenance).

We are promoting more frequent use of data through the installation on running trains of equipment to monitor the condition of tracks, electrical equipment and train instruments, the installation of sensors and cameras on infrastructure to check switches and the exterior of trains, and the monitoring of the condition and deterioration of equipment through analysis of acquired data.
