From Fukushima Station, the Ōu Line runs through the mountainous areas of the Tohoku region, connecting to Aomori Station via Yamagata and Akita Prefectures. From Akita Station to Oiwake, where the Oga Line branches off, it travels along the Sea of Japan coastline and the eastern shore of Lake Hachirogata. From Higashi-Noshiro Station, the line heads north through Odate Station, along the Ou Mountains and through Yatate Pass, offering superb views.
