  • Founded in 1866, you'll savor the perfect balance of vinegared rice, neta (toppings), fresh wasabi and soy sauce, prepared with traditional techniques, such as nikiri, tsume, zuke, sujime and kombujime, preserved over the course of the restaurant's long history.

Shoji Hamada Memorial Mashiko Sankokan Museum(Tochigi Prefecture)

  • Shoji Hamada Memorial Mashiko Sankokan Museum was opened in part of . Shoji Hamada's home to publicly display works he collected as references for his own art. Experience the world of Shoji Hamada, a Living National Treasure and one of the leaders of the Mingei Movement, through his own collection of artistic works, as well as his world view, which comes from wholesome rural living.

Depart Koganei Station.

Kobuchisawa Stargazing(Yamanashi Prefecture)

  • Yamanashi Prefecture is one of the most famous places in Japan to gaze at the stars, especially in winter, when particularly clear skies offer the best view. Take a short break from your journey at Yatsugatake Grandvert Vineyard, a winery located at the foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains, where you'll spend an evening under the stars complete with a stargazing guide from Hoshitsumugi-no-Mura.

Cocktail Hour

Enjoy a drink at Lounge Komorebi in Car 5.
Relax with a drink while watching the evening scenery from the train window. Lounge Komorebi (Car 5) can be utilized at any time of day, except for when Car 5 is being used to serve meals. Lounge Komorebi is closed from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM for cleaning and disinfecting.

Day.2

Arrive at Ryūō Station

  • Breakfast is served in a luxurious space overlooking a beautiful English garden. Chef Hatada, who trained for many years in Italy, serves simple, wholesome Yamanashi-influenced Italian cuisine that features the flavor of the ingredients, with a focus on home-grown vegetables and herbs.

Shichiken Yamanashi Meijo

  • Yamanashi Meijo Co., Ltd. was founded in 1750 in what is now Hakushu, Yamanashi. For the approximately 300 years to follow, the brewery has continued to preserve time-honored traditions while creating innovative sake where the famous underground waters of Mt. Kaikoma spring forth. Train Suite Shiki-shima passengers will enjoy an exclusive tour of the brewery and learn about the craft.

Lunch prepared by Mundo Akazawa of Washoku AKAZAWA

  • Washoku AKAZAWA, located in Kofu, Yamanashi, serves traditional kaiseki cuisine using ingredients from Yamanashi as well as seasonal ingredients from across the nation. Enjoy unique and ever-evolving Akazawa Shunmi (seasonal) flavors, crafted by honoring fundamentals while occasionally veering into the unconventional.
