To ensure a safe, convenient riding environment for all passengers, JR East has an active accessibility program for updating the facilities in its stations. Measures including installing elevators, building wheelchair ramps and embedding tactile paving tiles for the visually impaired, a part of JR East’s commitment to innovation and service excellence.

    The N’EX (Narita Express) is equipped with large, flat-screen monitors showing train information as well as news, weather forecasts and flight information (for airport-bound trips) in English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

To Our Passengers Who Use Wheelchairs

  • Passengers using wheelchairs are requested to approach a station staff member. The staff member will escort you to the platform and help you get on or off the train.
  • If you use a wheelchair, you may not be able to board the train depending on the type of wheelchair you use, the train you wish to ride and the station. So be sure to check with us before you buy your ticket.
  • Wheelchairs that can be brought on board must be no more than 120 centimeters in length/height and no more than 70 centimeters in width.
  • It may take some time to escort you to the platform, so please come to the station a little early.

Regarding Allowable Baggage

  • You may bring up to two pieces of baggage on board free of charge. For each bag the total of the length, width and height must not exceed 250 centimeters, the length must not exceed two meters and the weight must be no more than 30 kilograms.
  • Small dogs, cats, pigeons and other small animals are not considered a risk or inconvenience to other passengers and may be brought on board for a fee as long as they are kept in a carrying case of a total length, width and height of no more than 120 cm and a total weight of no more than 10 kg.

JR East Requests the Following

  • Please carry on and secure your baggage yourself.
  • If you are carrying on a small animal (pet, etc.), please do not take it out of its carrying case at the station or inside the train.
  • If you are carrying on especially large baggage, you may inconvenience other passengers depending on the time of day, so please take special care in its handling.
  • For your safety, please do not place heavy bags or unstable luggage on the overhead racks.
  • You may not be allowed to take baggage on board if it could inconvenience other passengers, if the train is exceptionally crowded or due to other circumstances.
