March 14, 2011
In light of constraints on the electric power supply to the Tokyo metropolitan region and the receipt today, March 14th, of suggestions from Tokamachi City and instructions from the Shinano River Office of the Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, we have decided to provisionally reduce the present test discharge flow of 50 m3/s (river maintenance flow of 40 m3/s) to the river maintenance flow of 7 m3/s and to use the reduced part of the river maintenance flow for intake. We will use this as much as possible to increase the amount of generated power, which we will transmit to the Tokyo metropolitan region.
We extend our profound, heartfelt thanks to the people of the area as well as to all others involved for their generosity of understanding and cooperation.
