Basic Fares and Express Train Charges for the Tohoku Shinkansen from Hachinohe to Shin-Aomori

The Tohoku Shinkansen will begin operation between Hachinohe and Shin-Aomori on Saturday, December 4, 2010. East Japan Railway Company has therefore today applied to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for approval of express train charges between Hachinohe and Shin-Aomori.
Express train charges for the main sections of the route will be 6,500 yen from Tokyo to Shin-Aomori and 4,610 yen from Sendai to Shin-Aomori (adult passenger, normal season, reserved seat). Total fares and charges will be 16,370 yen from Tokyo to Shin-Aomori and 10,700 yen from Sendai to Shin-Aomori. This is 520 yen cheaper than the present total fares and charges from Tokyo to Shin-Aomori.
A Green Car charge will also be established for trips of 701 km and more.
