September 7, 2010
The East Japan Railway Co., Ltd. (JR East) Group is renewing the "ekinaka" (within the ticket gate area of stations) commercial facilities at major Tokyo terminals as part of its Station Renaissance Program. The three areas — within the area on first floor at the Yaesu South Ticket Gate of Tokyo Station, within the area at the Park Ticket Gate of Ueno Station, and within the Central Ticket Gate area at Shinagawa Station — will open for business in March 2011.

Purpose of General Renewal |
|
The JR East Group has been preparing to make the stations that customers use everyday more convenient and comfortable in our Station Renaissance Program.
At Tokyo Station we have been preparing "Tokyo Station City." As part of this, we are now renewing the passage connecting to the Keiyo Line platform within the ticket gate area of the first floor at the Yaesu South Ticket Gate. Named "KeiyoStreet," this passage’s theme is "a people-friendly, nature-friendly lifestyle."
We are renewing the Dila shopping malls, as well as surrounding shops, within the area at Ueno Station Park Ticket Gate and within the Central Ticket Gate area of Shinagawa Station to make the stations and surrounding areas more attractive in response to changes in the environment around the stations. The concept for this renewal at Ueno Station is "Co-existence and co-creation with the community" and at Shinagawa Station "Always a new discovery." |
