East Japan Railway Company
Tobu Railway Co., Ltd.
October 4, 2004
Starting in spring 2006, JR East and Tobu Railway will offer direct limited express service connecting Shinjuku Station to Tobu Nikko and Kinugawa Onsen stations.
To operate this service, a new connecting line will be constructed in Kurihashi Station, now a transfer station for both transportation companies. Connecting the JR Utsunomiya line and the Tobu Nikko line will provide the shortest route between Shinjuku, a key hub of western Tokyo, and the Nikko-Kinugawa area renown for hot springs, and shrines and temples designated world heritage sites.
