15庇で鳥の羽を表現し、地域の飛躍に願いを込めた。夜間は間接照明で木目調天井を照らし、温かく人々を迎え入れる空間を演出した。「TRAIN SUITE 四季島」専用ラウンジとして新築した。デザインは大正モダン風駅舎に合わせた外観と味■蔵をイメージし、県産木材の羽目板や竹見切縁を配した内装としている。多雪地域駅舎のコンパクト化で、自然落雪型屋根形状と温かみあるデザインを実現した。旧駅舎の国鉄型駅名標を一部再利用した。地域に生きる駅羽鳥駅姨捨ラウンジ「更級の月」手ノ子駅Stations that are “Thriving with Communities” 地方においても、街づくりや地域の活性化のためにさまざまな駅づくりを行っています。駅機能だけではなく図書館やコミュニティーセンターなどの公共的な機能を併せ持つ合築駅や、ディスティネーションキャンペーン（ＤＣ）に合わせた観光拠点駅の建替え・改修など、地域に密着した駅づくりを行っています。JR East is also building a variety of stations outside of urban areas to help develop local towns and revitalize communities.
