There are thousands of items inherited from the Uesugi clan, including the Uesugi Family Documents, which were the first samurai documents to be designated as a national treasure, and items related to Lord Yozan Uesugi, the 9th lord of the Yonezawa clan, known as a great prince who successfully reformed the domain's government. A museum that stores and exhibits. You can learn deeply about the history and culture of Yonezawa.
The highlight of the exhibit is the national treasure ``Uesugibon Rakuchu Rakugai-zu folding screen.'' It overlooks the capital of Kyoto and depicts the four seasons and the lifestyle of the people in Rakuchu (inner city) and Rakugai (outskirts), and is said to have been a gift from Lord Oda Nobunaga to Lord Uesugi Kenshin.

In the permanent exhibition room, the history and culture of Yonezawa, mainly from the Edo period, is introduced in an easy-to-understand manner using videos and models, such as the footprints of the famous prince Takayama. In the special exhibition room, a wide range of exhibitions are held from time to time, including historical exhibitions about the Uesugi clan and art exhibitions by artists connected to the local area, so you can enjoy them no matter how many times you visit.
The Okitama Cultural Hall is located in the same building as the Yonezawa City Uesugi Museum, and together they are called the "Dengoku no Mori." The highlight of Okitama Cultural Hall is the moving Noh stage at the entrance. During Noh and Kyogen performances, it is moved to the stage.

Visit the historic Uesugi Shrine

The characters ``Bi'' representing Bishamonten, a god that Uesugi Kenshin deeply believed in, and ``Ryu'' representing Fudo Myoo are written on it. Uesugi Shrine is said to bring a variety of blessings, including good luck, fulfillment of wishes, success in studies, and prosperity in business. It is also well known as a power spot and boasts unwavering popularity.
Stop by the shrine office and receive a stamp. The goshuin of Matsumisaki Shrine, a sessha, has an annotation with Lord Yozan's famous quote, ``Whatever happens, it becomes possible.'' I feel like I can have someone push me on my back and give me a lot of power.

To Uesugi Shrine's treasure hall "Keishoden"

At “Sake Brewery Museum Toko Sake Brewery”
Enjoy sake brewery tours, tastings, and shopping
This is a sake brewery museum directly managed by Kojima Sohonten, a brewery founded in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The interior of the facility is full of Meiji-era charm, including the brewery, which is a renovated storehouse where sake was actually brewed.
Another appeal is that you can sample the sake you are interested in. You're sure to find your favorite alcohol.
The attached brewery store sells limited edition sake, homemade lees pickles, koji, sake lees, etc. The kenjo sake, which can only be purchased at the directly managed store, recreates the taste of the time when it was presented to castles as the official liquor store of the Yonezawa domain's Uesugi family, and the ginjo plum wine, which won the triple crown in the plum wine contest, is popular.
