As this line travels at some of the highest altitudes for JR, the train was designed around the concept of “the train nearest the heavens.”

Stargazing sessions

Starry sky guides seen along the Koumi Line will lead stargazing sessions during the Nobeyama Station stop, as part of HIGH RAIL Hoshizora. Please enjoy the beautiful starry sky in Minamimaki Village, which was selected as one of “The three most beautiful starry skies in Japan" by astronomers.

  • *The session may be held indoors or canceled due to weather conditions.
  • *The path is dark so please bring a source of light so that you can see where you are walking.
  • *Please bring rain gear and warm clothing in case of sudden weather changes.
  • *Between Kobuchizawa and Nobeyama, to make the stargazing experience at Nobeyama Station even more enjoyable, a starry sky briefing will be held on board by a starry sky guide from along the line.

The HIGH RAIL gallery

Car no. 2 is furnished with the HIGH RAIL gallery, a space with circular bookcases filled with books on astronomy.
In this space, images of the night sky are projected on a hemispherical "dome" installed in the ceiling.

HIGH RAIL 1375 is a train with all reserved seat. In addition to a boarding ticket, you will need seat ticket.

    1. JR 동일본 열차 예약 새로운 창에서 열림 에 접속하여 "Purchase tickets "를 누르세요.

    2. Ride Joyful Trains 섹션에서 “Joyful Trains ”를 누르세요.

    3. 탑승하고 싶은 기차를 선택하세요.

    4. 선택한 기차의 모델, 좌석 유형 (그린(일등)칸, 박스석), 경로를 선택하세요.

    5. "Reserve Now" 버튼을 눌러 예약 세부 정보로 이동하세요.

    6. 탑승을 원하시는 날짜와 출발역, 도착역, 그리고 탑승하는 성인과 어린이의 인원수를 입력하시고 "Reserve Now "을 누르세요.

    7. 이용 가능한 열차 시간에서 선택하고, 탑승하려는 열차 옆의 상자를 체크한 후 "Select "을 누르세요.

      다른 시간을 선택하려면「Previous train」 또는 「Next train」를 선택하여 현재 열차의 전후 열차 시간을 확인하세요.

    8. 구매 세부 사항을 확인하고, 모든 내용이 정확하면 "Buy Tickets "를 눌러 구매 화면으로 이동하세요.

    9. 구매하려면 JR 동일본 열차 예약 계정을 만들어야 합니다.

If you are using a JR EAST rail pass such as the JAPAN RAIL PASS or JR EAST PASS within the free area, you can reserve reserved seat without paying an additional fee.
