Information for “GranClass (No Beverage or Light Meal Service)” trains

In order to make the calm and refined premium cabin space readily available,
“GranClass (No Beverage or Light Meal Service)” trains offer seating only.
These trains do not have a GranClass Attendant on board and do not offer light meals, drinks, wet towels, etc.

Applicable trains

Tohoku and Hokkaido Shinkansen
(Series E5 and H5)
  • - All “Nasuno”, “Hayate” and “Yamabiko” trains
  • - All “Hayabusa” trains departing from Tokyo and bound for Sendai or departing from Sendai and bound for Tokyo*
  • - All “Hayabusa” trains departing from Sendai, Morioka or Shin-Aomori and bound for Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto, and all “Hayabusa” trains departing from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto and bound for Sendai, Morioka or Shin-Aomori
  • - Some special trains
Hokuriku Shinkansen (Series E7 and W7)
and Joetsu Shinkansen (Series E7)
  • - Hokuriku Shinkansen: All "Hakutaka" and “Asama” trains
  • - Joetsu Shinkansen: All Series E7 "Toki" and "Tanigawa" trains

How to distinguish “GranClass (No Beverage or Light Meal Service)” trains

Look for the GranClass icon on the JR timetable to see whether service is provided on the train or not.

GranClass (with Beverage or Light Meal Service)

On-board service (Light Meal, drinks, wet towel service, etc.) is provided.

GranClass (No Beverage or Light Meal Service)

There is no GranClass Attendant on board and light meals, drinks, wet towels, etc., are not available.
