INTERVIEW

  • Question.01

What are you responsible for at work?

I am conducting supervision tasks for distribution equipment construction. The equipment involved in distribution ranges from high-voltage distribution lines and substations, to lighting, departure signs, and various load equipment. As this field has significant interactions with other systems, it's important to manage the process with careful planning. Additionally, electrical work always involves potential hazards. Ensuring safety measures like power shutdowns are in place for daily operations and safeguarding the safety of customers and personnel working in railway environments is the most crucial aspect of supervision.

  • Question.02

What is the most rewarding/interesting part of your current job?

I am responsible for visible facilities such as station lighting and departure signs in the distribution system. When the equipment I've been in charge of is installed on-site, I can feel the sense of accomplishment by realizing that I'm contributing to the safety and convenience of our customers. Additionally, being involved in the establishment of Makuhari Toyosuna Station, I witnessed the moment when the station was illuminated and the facilities came to life as soon as electricity was supplied from the substation. This experience made me realize that the essence of electrical work is breathing life into stations and facilities. I believe that this aspect is the true reward and fascination of working with electricity, and it fills me with pride.

  • Question.03

Looking back on your career since joining the company, please tell us about your work and training.

Right after being assigned, I underwent a training period of approximately two months. As I wasn't particularly skilled in studying and lacked confidence in electrical knowledge, I had my doubts. However, during this time, I was able to learn thoroughly, starting from the fundamentals of electricity to the intricate details of our company's electrical facilities. Our company offers regular training programs that cover educational aspects related to daily supervision tasks and handling equipment. By utilizing these programs, one can acquire a broad range of knowledge and skills.

  • Question.04

What was your motivation and decisive factor when joining the company?

I found the prospect intriguing because, in Japan, our company is the only one that deals with such a large-scale power network, encompassing everything from power generation to load equipment within a general corporation. Additionally, during my participation in the company's internship program, I was impressed by the strong sense of loyalty and the vibrant energy of the employees. It struck me as an ideal environment to be a part of for the long term. The most decisive factor, however, was the desire to provide peace of mind to my parents. Given the high level of societal contribution and the trust our company receives from the local community, I made the commitment to join JR East Japan in order to make a meaningful impact and contribute to society.

  • Question.05

    Advice for job-hunting students!

Your workplace is where you'll spend about two-thirds of your year. To ensure that the working environment suits you and to get a sense of the people you'll be working with, actively participate in job-hunting events. Additionally, the remaining one-third (your private life) needs to be fulfilling in order to excel at your job. Make sure to assess if the environment allows you to control your work-life balance and observe the behavior of senior employees for guidance.
We're looking forward to the opportunity to work alongside all of you with excitement.

How you spend your weekend.

I love eating, so even during weekdays, I'm already thinking about what to eat on the weekends. I often go on trips with the main purpose of enjoying delicious meals, like going to Sendai to have beef tongue or heading to Kanazawa for sushi. Since there are many gourmet cities in our company's area, my goal is to explore all the prefectures!"
