• Question.01

  What are you responsible for at work?

  JR East is the only railway company that has a power plant. Electricity generated by the plant is transmitted through transmission lines managed by JR East, and it supplies electricity to trains in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Among them, I am located in Tokamachi City and Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture We are conducting planning for Shinano River Power renewal.

  What is the most rewarding/interesting part of your current job?

  Construction planning is the starting line for future construction . Being the starting line, I try to think about "how an equipment can do more tasks" and "how can we do it more safely" regarding the future constructions and equipments. This is the interesting part of planning where it brings a rewarding feeling for me to work on.

  Looking back on your career since joining the company, please tell us about your work and training.

  I participated in training on ESIO, study session on my workplace which is the power generator, and also learned the knowledge and skills in the power generation sector, which is a special field within our railway company. Using what I learned in these training sessions, In my first year, I was in charge of switchover for four lines. In the second to third year, I was in charge of replacing the water turbine generator, with the project being the first experience for JR East as well.

  What was your motivation and decisive factor when joining the company?

  I wanted to be involved in a large-scale job. In ESIO, large-scale work such as large-scale station development work and construction of new large-scale facilities is available. I think that the magnitude of its social impact is what makes the work worthwhile, so I chose ESIO.

  Advice for job-hunting students!

  There are many different companies in the world, so I think it's going to be hard to decide. In such a case, it is important to think of what you want to prioritize, such as the job description, work location, pay, etc. That way, You can see the companies that you really want to be a part of. If that company happens to be JR East, then let's work together!
