Aiming to become international
tourist city “SHIBUYA”.

To realize our vision of “Shibuya, the international tourist city,” companies and government groups around the Shibuya station area are cooperating to create a disaster-resistant hub of fun.
JR Shibuya station is also undergoing improvements to increase ease-of-use by relocating the Saikyo Line platform and integrating the platform for the Yamanote Line. The Electrical System Integration Office is responsible for the research, project management, and construction management for the railway electrical equipment involved.

    I am a member of construction management department, and I‘m in charge of project management work for the construction work carried out by the ESIO. In addition to coordinating the overall schedule and budget for the construction work carried out by the ESIO, I also coordinate with related parties inside and outside the company, such as the head office and other branch offices, as a representative of the Electrical SIO.
    The improvement of Shibuya Station is an important project for town development around Shibuya Station in collaboration with the national and local government, and other railway operators.
    This project involves a wide range of stakeholders, and while there are many challenging parts, it is also rewarding. In order to push the construction forward, we build a cooperative system that includes the people in charge of each specialized field of Electrical SIO(Overhead Catenary, Power Distribution, Power Transmission, Train Control System, Telecommunication, etc.), the person in charge of civil engineering, the head office, other branch offices, etc..
    Recently, as the 4th switchover, we widened the platform of the Yamanote Line and carried out large-scale construction to merge Yamanote Line's outer and inner loop line tracks on the same platform.
    As a result, the line switchover that started with the Saikyo Line has been almost completed, and the convenience of transferring at Shibuya Station has been greatly improved. Since it was a large-scale construction project with a large social impact, careful preparation was required, including reliable process management and risk management on the day of the switchover. This process is also an important part of project management. Teamwork is essential to accomplish such a large-scale project. As a person in charge of project management, I am working to create an environment where people in charge of each field can demonstrate their abilities in their respective work and solve problems.We will continue to promote the project while looking forward to the completion of The improvement of Shibuya Station.

    I am a member of the signaling unit, and I‘m in charge of designing train control systems that are responsible for safe and stable railway transportation.
    The main work is to consider and create diagrams for train control systems that need to be changed due to the Remodeling of Shibuya station, and to work on construction contracts.
    In the Remodeling of Shibuya station project, we are carrying out construction work in various fields such as Civil Engineering, Construction, Railroad Tracks, Energy, and Information Communication while operating trains every day. We have to hold close discussions with people in charge of each field regarding the order in which structures are completed and the status of installation of various facilities, and we have to prepare the facilities necessary for train control.
    In the recent improvement of the Yamanote Line platform (same platform), we discussed the platform structure with the people in charge of civil engineering ,construction and examined the position of the equipment on the platform. In addition, we had to relocate the tracks and change the stopping positions of the trains, so we worked closely with the people in charge of the tracks to make careful preparations such as studying train control details and creating diagrams.
    While feeling a sense of mission to be responsible for the improvement work of Shibuya Station, we will continue to promote the project with the aim of contributing to the safety, security and convenience of our customers.

    I am a member of Telecommunication department in Shinjuku Engineering Depot. The Department of Telecommunications supervises the installation and improvement of station facilities such as station monitoring cameras and broadcast speakers, as well as radio equipment for communications between train and command center. In the Shibuya station improvement work, The inner and outer loop line platforms of the Yamanote Line were constructed as island platforms so that customers can transfer smoothly. Telecommunication construction will be carried out in a limited time of about 3 hours between the last train and the first train. Since multiple teams in charge of various  systems are working on construction at Shibuya Station simultaneously, my daily work consists of coordinating at engineering meetings, managing processes, and conducting post-construction safety and quality control so that construction can proceed efficiently.
    Shibuya Station improvement work is a large project, and it is essential that multiple systems work together to proceed smoothly. When I am entrusted with projects that are directly linked to train operations and the safe use of stations by passengers, I sometimes face challenges, such as learning a completely new knowledge, and  coordinating schedules with other systems teams. On the other hand, it is also a very rewarding job because the work and procedures that I have arranged is actually reflected in the field and the results are visualized (for example, the new station facilities that customers can use are realized). I will continue to work hard every day with the awareness that I am entrusted with a large project, putting safety first.

    I am a member of Overhead line department in Shinjuku Engineering Depot. The Overhead line department supervises the construction work to improve the overhead lines that are laid above the trains and the supports that support the overhead wires. work on Overhead line department is done within a limited time of about 3 hours from the last train when no trains are running until the first train. Within that short time, we are working to complete the construction within the set deadline while observing the determined rules and standard values so that the train can run safely and stably. In the Shibuya Station improvement work, we have relocated the Saikyo Line platform (parallel with the Yamanote Line platform) and joined the inner and outer loop of the Yamanote Line to the same platform. Construction work requires the power of people in many fields, not just the overhead contact lines. At meetings where related parties gather, we mutually confirm the progress of the process and support relocation, and make adjustments to ensure that the work proceeds smoothly. The feeling of accomplishment and the visibly changing landscape when the construction is completed while cooperating and helping each other is very rewarding. We will continue to carry out construction work so that customers who use the station can use it more safely and comfortably.

    I am a member of the Power Distribution Department of the Shinjuku Engineering Depot. I am in charge of supervising power distribution facilities for station improvement works on the Yamanote and Chuo lines, and my main tasks are to construct new station facilities such as power distribution stations that supply electricity to station facilities, lighting in the station premises, and electric notice boards. In the Shibuya Station improvement work, I was in charge of the construction work to convert the Yamanote Line platform into a one-platform double track, with the inner and outer loop line arriving to tracks on the same platform. This work could only be done within a limited time frame of approximately 3 hours after the station shutters were closed. In addition, since several fields of construction were being carried out in close proximity to each other, we had to discuss the construction period and work areas at process meetings where all concerned parties gathered to avoid conflicts. The improvement of Shibuya Station is a large project, and I cannot proceed with the work alone. It is necessary to have horizontal connections to cooperate with other fields, but it is also important to have vertical connections with those in charge of work in the same field. I value communication with my superiors and younger employees, and try to work as a team. We are committed to providing high quality services to our customers by safely producing high quality products on time.
