| We have constructed the Smart Station Lab Building, a new experimental facility with the same spaces and equipment as a regular station, including platforms and rolling stock, in the JR East Group Research and Development Center. It is a facility which aims to "build stations for the next era" and is used to dynamically test new technologies and ground-breaking concepts and idea with a view to achieving their commercial application. Based on this test environment, we are utilizing technologies such as next-generation networks, high-precision location detection, databases, human interface, etc. to tackle research and development into the provision of understandable train information and information guidance utilizing ICT (information and communication technology). Going forward, we will create new services which can support passengers from their departure point until they arrive at their destination, by continuing to actively incorporate ICT to provide information tailored to the needs and situation of individual passengers. |
