  • Restrictions apply to the order of your train rides.

  • Validity Period: 14 days (for one outbound and one return train ride)
  • After getting off the Narita Express, you can transfer to other JR EAST trains at no extra cost as long as you do not exit the ticket gates.

Once you exit the ticket gates, the ticket can no longer be used.

    For example:

    No, they do not have to be between the same stations.
    For example:

    • Outbound: Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station → Shinjuku Station
    • Return: Tōkyō Station → Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station

    As shown above, you can use the ticket for different stations.

    However, there are rules for how the ticket can be used.

    • For the outbound trip, use the ticket from Narita Airport → Tokyo (Central Tokyo: Tokyo and the surrounding area, including Yokohama and Ōfuna)
    • For the return trip, use the ticket from Tokyo (Central Tokyo: Tokyo and the surrounding area, including Yokohama and Ōfuna) → Narita Airport

    The reverse is not permitted (Tokyo → Narita Airport for the outbound trip and Narita Airport → Tokyo for the return trip).

  • Q. Can I use the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket to ride other trains on the same day that I ride the Narita Express?
    A.

    The N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket is not an unlimited pass.
    You can only use it twice.
    (Example)

    • First trip: Narita Airport → JR stations in Tokyo and the surrounding area
    • Second trip: JR stations in Tokyo and the surrounding area → Narita Airport

    After riding the Narita Express, you can transfer to other JR trains and travel to any station covered by the ticket at no extra cost as long as you do not exit the ticket gates.
    The same applies to the return trip. As long as you do not exit the ticket gates, you can transfer from another JR train to the Narita Express.

    *Note
    Once you exit the ticket gates, the ticket can no longer be used.

  • Q. Where should I store my luggage on the Narita Express? Is a reservation required?
    A.

    The Narita Express has overhead luggage racks and storage areas for large luggage.
    The large luggage area does not require a reservation.

    However, space is limited, so it is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
    Depending on the size and shape of your luggage, it may not fit.
    If the large luggage area is full, please place your luggage at your feet.

  • Q. I reserved a Narita Express ticket through JR-EAST Train Reservation. What should I do if my flight is delayed and I miss my reserved train?
    A.

    If you think you may miss your train or expect to arrive early, please visit the JR East website(Opens in a new window) to cancel your current reservation and reserve a different train. For details on cancellation deadlines and refund fees (fees charged when you receive a ticket refund), please see the Refund Fees (for ticket refunds) page (Opens in a new window).

    If you miss your reserved train, you can take a later train on the same day without changing your ticket.
    However, you will not have an assigned seat. Please take any available seat.
    If a passenger with a reservation for that seat arrives, you must give up the seat.

  • Q. Can I buy the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket for someone else?
    A.

    No, you cannot purchase a N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket on behalf of someone else. The person using the ticket must register as a member and purchase it themselves.

    If you need a refund after picking up your ticket, please visit a station counter in person with the credit card used for the purchase. Another person cannot do this for you, and refunds cannot be issued to a different card.

    Note that once physical tickets are picked up (issued), they cannot be canceled or refunded online. We recommend keeping your credit card with you during your trip.

  • Q. Can I view the details of the person who reserved the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket on JR-EAST Train Reservation (name, passport number, etc.)?
    A.

    Information registered at the time of booking (name, passport number, birth year, etc.) cannot be checked from the purchase history.
    If you’re not sure you entered the correct details, please cancel your reservation and rebook with the correct information.
    N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket cancellations made by 23:50 on the day before travel are fully refundable.
    However, any seats you booked along with your N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket will also be automatically canceled.
    So be sure to reserve your seats again after purchasing a new pass.

  • Q. Can I purchase the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket if I live in Japan on a resident visa?
    A.

    Yes.
    This ticket is available for anyone holding a passport issued by a country other than Japan.

  • Q. How do I change the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket seat that I reserved on JR-EAST Train Reservation to a Green Car seat?
    A.

    Passengers traveling with a N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket can reserve Green Car seats online by paying an additional fee.
    However, this additional fee is not simply the price difference from a standard seat. You must pay the full Green Car fee (the limited express reserved seat fee + Green Car fee).
    The N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket only acts as the basic fare ticket for the area covered.
    You can check the additional charge amount on screen before completing your reservation.

    How to make a reservation

    1. 1. Tap “Purchase a pass” on the JR-EAST Train Reservation website (do not select "Seat reservation").
    2. 2. Select your train.
    3. 3. Select the Green Car option.
    4. 4. Check the box for "Purchase Super (Limited) Express Train ticket only" to just buy a limited express ticket.
      (*This box will be checked automatically if you select "Conventional line ticketless express train ticket").
    5. 5. The price displayed on screen is the additional fee.

    If everything looks all right, proceed with your reservation.

    * Note *

    If you do not check "Purchase Super (Limited) Express Train ticket only," you will also be charged for a basic fare ticket again.

  • Q. Can I pick up the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket on the day I plan to start using it?
    A.

    Yes, you can.
    The N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket and reserved seat tickets can be picked up on the day of use.

    Before you go to pick up your pass, please check the pick-up locations (stations) to see the hours for the JR EAST Travel Service Center and JR Ticket Office (Midori-no-Madoguchi) counters and for reserved seat ticket vending machines with passport readers.
