Sustainable Procurement Survey

The Purpose of This Survey

The JR East Group has established a Group Procurement Policy and other guidelines as standards of conduct for procurement, and the socially and environmentally responsible procurement methods used across our supply chain are based on these policies.
We strive to understand our business partners’ current status through open communication and via sustainable procurement surveys, which were updated in FY2021.3 and cover themes such as corporate governance, human rights and labor, and the environment (green procurement).

Survey Topics

To better understand our business partners’ efforts toward sustainable procurement, we conduct regular surveys covering the following seven themes (with 57 questions in total).
The themes are based on international standards related to human rights and the environment, including the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, and Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, as well as the International Labour Organization’s Core Labour Standards and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
These survey themes also correspond to the specific initiatives outlined in the JR East Group Procurement Policy and Requests to Our Business Partners. The Group is working on the themes below together with both our domestic and overseas business partners.
