We renovated the fishway in 2012 with the aim of creating a fishway that fish would want to use.
We have been continuously verifying that the new fishway is functioning properly, and have established a fishway monitoring and maintenance plan, which has demonstrated our efforts to preserve and create the environment, and in 2012 we received the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Environmental Award.
In fiscal year 2023, an employee won the Dam Engineering Society's Thesis Award and earned a doctorate for his research on fishways at Miyanaka Water Intake Dam.
We are also continuing to consider ways to improve the facility. In the fishway observation room, you may be able to see fish such as sweetfish in early summer and salmon in autumn.
