This information will be updated by 11am every day.
JR EAST Shinanogawa Power Station (the collective name for three power stations: Senju Power Station, Ojiya Power Station, and Ojiya No. 2 Power Station) is a hydroelectric power station located in Tokamachi City and Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture, that uses water drawn from the Shinano River system. The electricity generated here is sent to trains and railway facilities in the Tokyo metropolitan area, the Joetsu Line, and the Shinkansen, and plays an important role as an energy source supporting our core railway business. Hydroelectric power generation is also an environmentally friendly, clean energy source that does not emit carbon dioxide (CO2).
We will continue to operate the Shinanogawa Power Station with a sincere commitment to maintaining harmony with the river environment and coexisting with the local community and all other stakeholders.
