[Seismic reinforcement for over-track stations]
A project to seismically reinforce structures such as over-track station buildings is currently underway. Enveloping in concrete is the method conventionally applied for reinforcing column bases, but increased costs become an issue with factors such as increased weight. To overcome this issue, we are studying a reinforcement method using steel plates that keep weight down and improve deformation performance.
For buildings with large open areas, many floors and large ceiling interstitial spaces, lateral force acting on ceiling faces in earthquakes tends to be large. Much reinforcing material is thus necessary to make those seismically resistant, resulting in increased costs and construction time. We are thus developing reinforcing material that can secure greater bearing force so ceiling seismic reinforcement is needed in fewer locations. |
