To expand your horizons a bit further from Nagano Station, we recommend Obasute Station, known for its beautiful terraced fields. From the station, some 2,000 terraced fields are visible, making up scenery famous throughout Japan. It is known as one of the Three Great Train Views and one of the Three Great Moon-view Villages of Japan. Obasute is six stations down the JR Shinonoi Line from Nagano Station.

Oyaki is a stuffed food native to Nagano. Coming in many different flavors, oykai is made by wrapping an ingredient in a flour skin like a dumpling, then baking. Particularly healthy versions include vegetable and mountain vegetable oyaki. A great accompaniment to a stroll around town!
