Things to see
The Pageant of Starlight is an event typifying Sendai, known by its nickname Mori-no Miyako, the City of Trees.
The Japanese zelkova trees along Jozenji Dori are decorated with hundreds of thousands of lights, imparting a mystical beauty to the night air of Sendai.
A variety of events are held here, including a Santa Claus parade and a musical performance called "The Story of Santa's Forest."

Things to see
Often referred to in English as "snow monsters," the ice formations that form in the trees in the Zao Mountains are the result of unusual weather conditions. These magnificent, natural works of art are the pride of Yamagata. When lit by the richly colored illumination, the multitude of snow monsters take on a mystical quality, their striking forms rising up out of the mountainside.
The Snow and Fire Festival, the main event, features a magnificent, dynamic performance by ski and snowboard instructors, a fireworks show on the snow and other entertainment.
