Valid Trains
While costing less, the JR EAST PASS SPECIAL allows travel on any train valid with the JR EAST PASS. The JR EAST PASS SPECIAL is a great deal for a wide range of travel.
JR EAST PASS SPECIAL Valid Lines
- Unlimited travel on local, limited express and express trains including Shinkansens on the following rail company lines:
- JR East Lines
- Sendai Airport Transit
- Tokyo Monorail
- Izu Kyuko Line
- Hokuetsu Kyuko Railway Hokuhoku Line
- Aoimori Railway
- IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway
- The following limited express trains between Shinjuku and Tobu-nikko/Kinugawa-onsen Stations that directly run between the JR East lines and Tobu Railway lines: the Nikko, the Spacia Nikko, the Kinugawa, and the Spacia Kinugawa. Also, the local trains between Shimo-imaichi and Tobu-nikko/Kinugawa-onsen Stations.
Notes:
- The JR EAST PASS SPECIAL is not valid for the Tokaido Shinkansen as that is operated by a different rail company.
- the JR EAST PASS SPECIAL is not valid for JR buses.

Eastern Japan has many attractive places to visit. There are numerous locations to enjoy Japanese scenery with cherry blossoms and new spring growth, lots of historical World Heritage Sites such as at Hiraizumi, and excellent cuisines to taste throughout the region.
