We have developed an on-board platform monitoring system to view passengers through cameras mounted on the side of trains to confirm boarding and alighting of passengers. The conventional use of mirrors (which is useful for a limited number of cars) or ITV systems (cameras mounted on platforms) have limitations, while the on-board platform monitoring system does not require ground equipment, can be applied to longer trains, and can be used for trains of any type without having to adjust stop positions.
The system was installed on trains in order to confirm visibility in light of seasonal differences, day/night conditions, and weather differences, and it was confirmed that the system ensures safety for passengers boarding and alighting. The system also enables safe and efficient one-man operation. |
